Top up your StaySats balance with BTC on Bitcoin, then book hotels from it.

**Quick answer — Can I pay for a hotel with Bitcoin (BTC)?**

Yes, with an on-chain Bitcoin transaction: a Lightning payment cannot reach our address. The BTC amount and its rate are locked for 30 minutes on the payment page. **StaySats**, a hotel booking site paid only in crypto, credits it in US dollars after 2 confirmations. Each stay is then held, not charged, until the hotel confirms.

## Paying for a hotel with Bitcoin (BTC): key facts

| Attribute | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Coin and network | Bitcoin (BTC) on the Bitcoin network |
| Network to choose | Bitcoin only (on exchanges: Bitcoin or BTC) |
| Deposit address format | a Bitcoin address that starts with bc1, 1 or 3 |
| Confirmations before credit | 2 |
| Network fee | Paid in BTC by the sender |
| Value until you book | BTC rate locked for 30 minutes, then US dollars after 2 confirmations |
| Not accepted | Lightning payments; BTC tokens on other networks, such as BTC on BNB Smart Chain or wrapped BTC on Ethereum; Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and other forks |
| Refunds in this coin | No: withdrawable amounts are sent in USDT or USDC |

## What should I know about Bitcoin before I pay a hotel?

A Bitcoin top-up is an on-chain transaction on the Bitcoin network, never a Lightning payment. Bitcoin addresses come in four common formats: Taproot (bc1p), native SegWit (bc1q), script (3) and legacy (1). We credit a Bitcoin top-up after 2 confirmations, and the BTC is converted to US dollars at the rate locked when you started the top-up.

## How do I send BTC on Bitcoin for a top-up?

Start a top-up in your account and pick Bitcoin (BTC). Then:

1. **Choose BTC on the Bitcoin network** — On an exchange, pick BTC and the Bitcoin network; in a wallet, make a normal on-chain send, not a Lightning payment.
2. **Paste the address and the exact BTC amount** — Copy both from the payment page. The amount has many decimals: keep all of them.
3. **Pick a fee rate and send within 30 minutes** — A higher fee rate in satoshis per virtual byte usually confirms sooner. The amount and rate shown are locked for 30 minutes.

## Which network must I use to send BTC?

Use the Bitcoin network (an on-chain transaction), and nothing else.

> **Check before you send BTC** No Lightning: the payment page shows an on-chain address, not a Lightning invoice. No wrapped BTC on Ethereum and no BTC token on BNB Smart Chain. No Bitcoin Cash (BCH) or other forks: they are different coins. Send the exact amount in one transaction, within the 30 minutes shown.

> **Lightning is not accepted** The payment page shows a Bitcoin address, not a Lightning invoice, so a Lightning payment cannot reach it. Why we accept no Lightning or Monero.

## What does a BTC top-up cost?

A Bitcoin fee depends on the size of the transaction in virtual bytes and on demand for block space, not on the amount you send. Wallets let you set a fee rate in satoshis per virtual byte. The hotel price is the same in every coin. We give no network fee figure until we have measured one.

## Does my BTC top-up keep its value until I book?

The BTC price moves. The payment page locks the BTC amount and its rate for 30 minutes, and once 2 confirmations are reached your balance is in US dollars. Later moves of the BTC price do not change it.

## Which wallet or exchange can I send BTC from?

If your wallet supports Replace-by-Fee (RBF), you can raise the fee of a transaction that waits too long. Keep the amount sent to us the same.

On an exchange, pick the Bitcoin network. Do not pick Lightning, or a BTC token on another chain such as BNB Smart Chain.

## Which other crypto travel sites accept Bitcoin?

As of October 2026, per each seller's own page.

| StaySats | Bitcoin (BTC) on the Bitcoin network, credited after 2 confirmations; hotels only |
| Travala | Lists BTC on-chain and BTC over Lightning |
| Travorio | Lists BTC among "100+" coins |
| LockTrip | Lists BTC among about 20 coins |
| Bitrefill (gift cards) | Takes BTC and Lightning for gift cards, not for hotel bookings |

## Paying for a hotel with Bitcoin (BTC): FAQ

### Why only 2 confirmations for Bitcoin?

It is our rule for crediting a Bitcoin top-up: after 2 blocks on top of your transaction, the amount is credited in US dollars. The usual time is on the [pay with crypto](https://staysats.com/pay/) page. A low fee rate can keep a transaction waiting longer before the first confirmation.

### If the BTC price falls after I top up, does my hotel budget fall?

No. Once your Bitcoin top-up is confirmed, your balance is in US dollars, and the total of the stay is held and charged in US dollars. Price moves of BTC after the credit do not change your balance.

### Can I get a hotel refund back in BTC?

No. Withdrawable amounts are paid in USDT (TRC-20 or ERC-20) or USDC (ERC-20) only, never in BTC. You can also keep them as balance credit for your next booking.

### What if my Bitcoin transaction is stuck with a low fee?

Wait, or raise the fee if your wallet supports Replace-by-Fee (RBF), keeping the same amount and address. The top-up is credited after 2 confirmations, whenever they happen. If it stays unconfirmed for a long time, write to support@staysats.com with the transaction ID.
