Quick answer
How does StaySats check the facts it publishes?
StaySats, a hotel booking site paid only in crypto, links each fact to a source and dates each check. We prefer primary sources: a company's own pages, laws and official registers. Of our five datasets, the acceptance index is checked monthly and the other four quarterly. Corrections are listed in our changelog.

Who writes and checks StaySats pages?
The StaySats research desk of TravelGoat LLC, the company that operates StaySats. The desk writes our guides and keeps our five datasets.
We have not named an editor or an expert reviewer yet, so no page claims an expert review. Named reviewers will be listed on this page and on about StaySats when appointed. We will never show a person who does not exist, or a photo that is not real.
Until then, check us the way you would check any seller. Open the source next to a fact, and look at the date of our check.
Which sources do we use?
We use the most direct source we can find, in this order:
- The company's own pages: terms, help centre, payment page or press release.
- Laws, regulations and official registers, such as the Federal Register, EUR-Lex or Spain's official gazette (BOE).
- Data publishers with a public method, such as BTC Map, whose listings come from OpenStreetMap contributors.
- Press reports, only when no primary source exists. The sentence or the data row then says that it rests on the press.
We do not use unsigned reviews or social media posts as a source of fact. A fact we could not confirm is marked as such, never guessed.
How do we check and date a fact?
We read the source ourselves and record the day we read it. That day appears as "Checked on" under a table, or in the checked column of a data row.
In the acceptance index, some statuses are not confirmed on the company's own pages. They are marked "reported" or "unverified", with the source we have. When a company stops taking crypto, the row stays, with the end date, so the history remains visible.
The "Last updated" date of a page changes only when a fact on it changes. Reading a source again without any change does not move that date.
How often do we check each dataset?
| Dataset | How often | Last check | Page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hotel & Booking-Site Crypto Acceptance Index | Monthly, and after a public announcement | October 13, 2026 | Acceptance index |
| Crypto Travel Seller Registry | Quarterly | October 13, 2026 | Seller registry |
| Crypto-Friendly Destinations | Quarterly | October 12, 2026 | Destinations |
| Hotel Check-in Without a Credit Card | Quarterly | October 13, 2026 | Check-in table |
| Hotel Taxes by City | Quarterly, and after an announced rate change | October 13, 2026 | Hotel taxes by city |
| Travel disruption notes on destination pages | Monthly, while the disruption lasts | Shown in each note | The destination page |

What is our conflict of interest?
We sell hotel bookings paid in crypto, so we are not neutral. StaySats earns money from the hotel bookings it sells, and our pages compare it with other crypto travel sites.
To limit that bias:
- we describe every seller, us included, with the same fields: company, country, coins and networks, refund of a crypto payment, published fees and ID checks;
- our own offer is always marked, and shown apart from any ranking or count;
- when we compare sellers, the order follows a criterion written on the page;
- we state facts about other sellers only from their own pages or a dated press source, with the link;
- we publish no rating, no review and no testimonial, of us or of anyone else.
No company pays to appear in our data or to change a row.
How do we use AI tools?
AI tools help us draft pages, structure data and translate. They do not replace sources: each fact on a page must come from a source we link, with the date of our check. A fact that no source supports is removed.
We publish no AI-made photo, no invented person and no invented quote. Pages in other languages start as machine translations. A translated page stays out of search engines until a native speaker has reviewed it.
How do we correct errors?
Write to [email protected] with the page, the sentence or data row, and a source, ideally the company's own page. We check that source. If it confirms the error, we correct the page or the row and give it a new check date. We also list the correction in the Corrections section of our changelog.
A company named in our data can use the same address to send its own source. We never change a date to make a page look newer, and we never backdate a change.
How should our data be cited?
With the dataset name, the date of our check, the license and the link. One example:
Source: StaySats, Crypto Travel Seller Registry (checked October 13, 2026), CC BY 4.0, https://staysats.com/crypto-travel-seller-registry/.
A link is appreciated; any rel attribute is fine. The citation line of each of our five datasets is on open data and on the press page.
Editorial policy: FAQ
Who is behind the StaySats research desk?
TravelGoat LLC, the Delaware company that operates StaySats. The desk is the team that writes our pages and keeps our data. No named person is listed yet. We will list a person only when a real person agrees to be named, with a real photo.
Are StaySats pages reviewed by experts?
Not by a named expert yet, and we do not claim it. Each fact comes from a linked source with the date of our check, so you can verify it yourself. When a named reviewer is appointed, the pages that person reviews will say so.
Do companies pay to appear in your data?
No. No company pays to appear in our data or to change its row. We are still not neutral, because we sell hotel bookings paid in crypto. That is why our own row is always shown apart, with the same fields as every other seller, and is not counted.
Why does StaySats appear in its own comparisons?
Because readers compare us with other crypto travel sites anyway. We include our offer, mark it, and describe it with the same fields as every other seller. You can check each field against the source we link, including the fields about us.
How fast do you correct an error?
We publish no fixed delay. Each report is checked against its source. A confirmed error is corrected with a new check date. The correction is listed in the Corrections section of the changelog, with the page and the source.
Do you use AI to write your pages?
Yes, AI tools help us draft, structure and translate. They do not replace sources: each fact must link to a source with the date we checked it. We publish no AI-made photo, no invented person and no invented quote.
