Do Marriott, Hilton and the other big hotel chains accept crypto?

Not at group level, as far as our searches found on October 13, 2026. 9 of the large groups below have no crypto payment method on their own website or app. Hyatt showed a bot check to our reader, so its row stays "Not verified"; a search extract of its FAQ names no coin. Each has its own page with the dated status, its deposit and debit card rules, and its sources:

The two other group rows are The Kessler Collection, which takes crypto, and Meliá, which we have not checked yet. The hotels that take crypto are mostly independent or owner-run. They are in the second table and in the next section.

Which hotels accept Bitcoin or crypto directly?

Few, and mostly small groups or single hotels. As of October 13, 2026, two operators confirm it on their own pages, and two rest on the press:

  • The Kessler Collection: yes. Its page "Pay with BitPay" asks guests to tell the front desk at check-out. It lists 12 coins, including BTC, ETH and USDC, but no USDT. The press reported the start at its 8 corporate-owned US hotels in March 2021. Does The Kessler Collection accept crypto?
  • Hotel Princess, Plochingen, Germany: yes. Its FAQ says stays and bar drinks can be paid in bitcoin, with Lightning at the bar. It now trades as PRINCESS No.3. Does Hotel Princess accept crypto?
  • Las Golondrinas: reported. A November 2025 press release announced USDT and USDC on Polkadot Asset Hub for direct bookings. Does Las Golondrinas accept crypto?
  • Palazzo Versace Dubai: announced in 2022, not confirmed today. Bitcoin through Binance was reported from September 7, 2022; its policies page now names cards only. Does Palazzo Versace Dubai accept crypto?

What counts as "accepting crypto" in this index?

A company accepts crypto only if its own checkout takes it. The rules we apply to every row:

  • Direct. The company's website, app or front desk takes the coins. It may use a payment processor it contracts, such as BitPay, Coinbase or Triple-A. This is the only case that can reach "Yes".
  • Through an intermediary. Another company takes your crypto and pays in normal money. Examples: a gift card reseller, a crypto card, or a crypto travel site such as Travala or StaySats. This is not acceptance. It appears in the "Crypto workaround" column or in the text, never in the status.
  • Coins and networks. We list the coins and the networks the source names. If a source names USDT without a network, the network cell stays empty: we never guess.
  • Eligibility. Who can use it: markets, IP address, residence, type of booking (prepaid or not) and currency.
  • Dates. Start and end dates as published. When sources disagree, we show both dates, as for Expedia in 2018.

What do the status levels and evidence types mean?

Yes

The company's own website, app or desk takes crypto today, and an official page says so.

Reported (not confirmed on the official website)

The press reports that crypto works, but the company has not published it. Trip.com is in this case.

Announced in the past, not confirmed today

Crypto was announced years ago, and we could not confirm on an official page that it still works.

Not verified (bot check)

The company's site showed a bot check to our reader, so we could not read its payment pages. We give no yes or no. Hyatt is in this case.

Stopped

The company took crypto, then stopped. The end date is shown when known.

No

We found no crypto method on the company's payment pages or terms on the date of our check.

Not checked yet

We have not checked this row yet. It is not a "no".

Official website

Evidence read on the company's own help, payment, terms or partner pages.

Press

Evidence from news articles, with their date. Used for history and for reported options.

Third party

Evidence from another company, such as a gift card reseller, when the company's own pages could not be read.

Search engine extract

A search engine's copy of an official page, used only when the company's site refused our reader. It is weaker than the page itself, so the row says so.

Our check

Our own reading of public pages and search results on the date shown, when no single source settles the question.

How was the index built?

We chose rows by demand and by size. The 7 booking sites are the ones named most often in travellers' questions about paying in crypto, in our study of 80 common questions. The 12 hotel groups are large international groups plus one US group reported to take crypto. The 3 hotels are properties that announced crypto payments in the press.

For each booking site, on October 13, 2026, we read the payment help pages, the terms of use or the partner pages. We also searched for any announcement. Where a site blocked our browser, we say so on the row and lower the evidence level. Expedia and Hotels.com showed a bot check, and Vrbo's payment help page returned an error. Press articles give the history and the reported options; each is dated in the sources. Meliá's payment pages could not be read, so its row stays "Not checked yet".

This version reads published pages only. It contains no test payments and no checkout screenshots.

How often is the index updated?

Every month, plus an extra update when a company announces a change. A change can be a new payment method, an end of crypto payments, or a new processor. The "checked" date of a row moves only when we check that row again. The page date changes only when a status, a source or a condition changes. Changes are listed in our changelog.

If you see a status that is out of date, write to [email protected] with a link to the source. We check it and update the row with the date of our check.

What does this index not tell you?

Five limits apply:

  • Rules change. A payment page can change at any time. Check the checkout before you pay.
  • "No" means "not found". A company may accept crypto in a market we could not see, or through a sales team. We report what its public pages say.
  • Some rows rest on the press. Trip.com and Expedia rest on news articles. Each company either did not publish the information or blocked our browser.
  • One hotel is not its group. A hotel of a big brand may take crypto at its desk while its group does not. The reverse can also happen.
  • No prices. This index says who accepts crypto, not who is cheaper. We make no price claim here.

Where does StaySats fit? (our offer, marked)

StaySats is not a row of this index: it is the publisher. We sell hotel bookings paid only in crypto: BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC, with USDT on Tron (TRC-20) or Ethereum (ERC-20). You top up a balance from $25, and at checkout the exact total of the stay is held. We book the room on request and confirm the final total with the hotel. Your balance is charged only when the hotel confirmation number is issued, and released at once if we can't confirm.

We pay the hotel in its local currency, so the hotel does not need to accept crypto. That is why a hotel we sell never appears here as "accepts crypto". Read how it works and our pricing rules. To compare the companies behind crypto travel sites, us included, see the crypto travel seller registry.

Crypto acceptance: common questions

Does Booking.com accept crypto?

No. On October 13, 2026, Booking.com's partner FAQ listed cards, cash, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Alipay, Klarna, Affirm and other methods, but no cryptocurrency. Booking.com listings were added to Travala, a separate crypto travel site, under a deal announced in November 2019. Full answer.

Does Airbnb accept crypto?

No. Airbnb's help page on payment methods names no cryptocurrency, as of October 13, 2026. People who live in the U.S. and hold a U.S. payment method can buy an Airbnb gift card with crypto. The three workarounds are compared on does Airbnb accept crypto?

Does Expedia accept bitcoin?

Not anymore. Expedia took bitcoin for hotel bookings through Coinbase from June 11, 2014. It stopped in 2018: an Expedia spokesperson gave May 10, 2018, and customers reported June 10. We found no newer crypto option on Expedia, and no Expedia gift card sold for crypto that works on expedia.com. Full answer.

Does Trip.com accept USDT?

Reportedly yes, in some markets. In December 2025, the South China Morning Post reported that Trip.com takes USDT and USDC for prepaid bookings. The option started on October 9, 2025 and depends on your IP address. Trip.com has not published it on its payment page, so our status is "reported". Full answer.

Does Marriott accept crypto?

We found no group-wide crypto payment method announced by Marriott International as of October 13, 2026. A group row covers its own website and app; a single hotel may decide differently. The dated status and its source are on does Marriott accept crypto?

Does Hilton accept crypto?

We found no group-wide crypto payment method announced by Hilton as of October 13, 2026. If a crypto travel site sells a Hilton hotel, that site takes the crypto and pays in normal money: an intermediary, not Hilton accepting crypto. Status and source: does Hilton accept crypto?

Do Hotels.com, Agoda or Vrbo accept crypto?

No crypto method was found on any of the three on October 13, 2026. Hotels.com sells USD gift cards that resellers offer for crypto, valid on its US site. Agoda's terms name cards and wallets only. Vrbo forbids moving a payment off its platform. Details: Hotels.com, Agoda, Vrbo.

Which hotels accept bitcoin directly?

Mostly independent hotels and small groups, not the big chains. Two confirm it on their own pages: The Kessler Collection, through BitPay, and Hotel Princess in Plochingen, Germany, in bitcoin. Palazzo Versace Dubai announced bitcoin in 2022, but its own pages no longer show it. The second table lists every row with its date and source.

Is a gift card bought with crypto the same as accepting crypto?

No. With a gift card, a reseller takes your crypto and the booking site receives a gift card payment. We list these routes in the workaround column, with their conditions, such as U.S. residence for Airbnb or a USD account for Hotels.com. They never change a status to "yes".

Can I use this data in an article or an app?

Yes. The index is published under CC BY 4.0: you may reuse and adapt it with credit to StaySats; a link to this page is appreciated. Download the JSON or CSV file. Keep the check date of each row, because payment rules change.
