How do I book a hotel abroad with USDT from Nigeria?

Four steps; we pay the hotel in its own currency.

  1. Fund your balance in crypto

Top up from $25 with USDT on TRC-20 or ERC-20, or another coin we accept. Send it only on the network shown on the payment page; it is credited in USD after the network confirmations.

  2. Search the city and your dates

Enter your dates and the number of guests. Prices are found live for your dates, in US dollars. A local fee paid at the hotel is confirmed with your booking.

  3. Book: the amount is held

The exact total of the stay is held on your balance while we request the booking. It is charged only when the hotel confirmation number is issued, and released if we can't confirm in time.

  4. Travel with your confirmation number

Show your passport at check-in. The hotel may ask for a card or a cash deposit for extras.

What should I know about a London hotel?

Few London hotels take crypto at the desk. BTC Map lists 86 places within 25 km of central London, 49 of them verified in 2025 or later, and no hotel. With StaySats, the hotel never needs to accept crypto: you pay us in USDT, and we pay the hotel in pounds.

UK law, the Immigration (Hotel Records) Order 1972, makes hotels keep a register. Every guest aged 16 or over gives a full name and nationality. Nigeria is a Commonwealth country, so the order does not ask Nigerian guests for a passport number. The hotel may still ask to see your passport under its own policy.

UK room prices include 20% VAT, and we confirm the final total with the hotel before you are charged. Paddington, Bloomsbury, King's Cross and South Kensington are well served by the Underground. More on London hotels.

How do other cities compare on BTC Map?

Any city in the search, except Spain for now and sanctioned places. Each city page gives the local crypto rule, taxes and ID rules. BTC Map counts, within 25 km, on October 12, 2026:

  • Johannesburg: 497 places listed, the second-highest count among the 100 cities of our index.
  • Cape Town: 288 places, 1 of them a hotel.
  • New York: 85 places, no hotel.
  • Paris: 48 places, no hotel.
  • Accra: 8 places and 1 hotel; Accra has no city page yet, so type it in the search.

These counts show local crypto use, not hotels we sell. A listing is not proof that a place accepts crypto today. All cities: Crypto-Friendly Destinations Index.

Which coin and network should I use from Nigeria?

Any coin we accept works: BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC. For USDT, choose Tron (TRC-20), credited after 20 confirmations, or Ethereum (ERC-20), credited after 12. USDC works on Ethereum (ERC-20).

If you send from your own wallet on Tron, keep a little TRX for the network fee. Copy the address from the payment page and check the network twice: funds sent on another network may be lost. Compare the two USDT networks on TRC-20 or ERC-20 for hotels.

What will the hotel ask for at check-in?

Your passport, and often a deposit. We send the hotel only the lead guest's name; there is no ID upload and no selfie at our checkout. The hotel checks your ID as local law requires.

Many hotels ask for a card pre-authorisation or a cash deposit for extras, even when the room is prepaid. Ask the hotel before you arrive which deposits it accepts, and how much. Hotel group rules are on check-in without a credit card.

What if the hotel cancels or my trip changes?

If we cannot confirm the booking in time, the full amount is released to your balance. If the hotel can't host you, you get 100% of the stay back. You choose USDT or USDC within 7 days of your request, or balance credit.

If you cancel a refundable rate, the amount the hotel refunds, minus its penalty, returns to your balance. A non-refundable rate returns nothing, and a no-show follows the rate rules. Flights are not covered: we sell hotel stays only. Every case is on refunds.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a card to book a hotel abroad from Nigeria?

Not to book. You pay StaySats from a crypto balance, and the total of the stay is held, then charged when the hotel confirmation number is issued. At check-in, the hotel may still ask for a card or a cash deposit for extras. Ask the hotel which deposits it accepts before you travel.

Do you accept naira, cards or bank transfers?

No. StaySats takes crypto only: BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC. We do not accept naira, cards, bank transfers, Monero or Lightning. Once your crypto is confirmed, the balance is kept in USD, and unused balance never expires. The minimum top-up is $25, and released or refunded amounts can be withdrawn in USDT or USDC.

Will a London hotel ask for my passport number?

The law does not require it for Nigerian guests. The Immigration (Hotel Records) Order 1972 asks every guest aged 16 or over for a full name and nationality. Only guests who are not British, Irish or Commonwealth citizens must also give a passport number. Hotels may still check your passport under their own policy.

Can I book a hotel for a relative in London?

Yes. Enter your relative as the lead guest, with their name written exactly as on their passport, and an email address. They show their own ID at check-in, and they may be asked for a card or a cash deposit for extras. The booking is paid from your crypto balance.

Which other cities can I book from Lagos?

Most cities in the search, including Accra, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Nairobi, Paris and New York. In Istanbul, paying shops or hotels in crypto on the spot is banned, but booking online with us is a different act. Hotels in Spain are not available yet.

Is paying for a hotel in crypto taxable in Nigeria?

Paying in crypto may be a taxable event in your country. Check local rules. We do not give tax or legal advice: ask a professional in Nigeria about your own situation. Keep a record of each top-up and booking, with the date and the amount.
