Quick answer
Can I book a hotel with Monero or Lightning on StaySats?
No. StaySats does not accept Monero (XMR) or Bitcoin over Lightning. You can book hotels with crypto in BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC, on five on-chain networks, from a $25 top-up. If you hold bitcoin on Lightning, move it on-chain and pay with BTC after 2 confirmations. Each stay is held, not charged, until the hotel confirms.
Monero and Lightning: key facts
| Monero (XMR) | Not accepted |
|---|---|
| Bitcoin over Lightning | Not accepted; on-chain BTC is, after 2 confirmations |
| Coins accepted | BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC |
| Networks accepted | 5: Bitcoin, Tron (TRC-20), Ethereum (ERC-20 and ETH), Solana, Litecoin |
| What the payment page shows | An on-chain address, never a Lightning invoice |
| Crypto travel sellers in our registry that list Lightning | Travala, trip1 and IMPT (bookings) and Bitrefill (gift cards), as of October 2026 |
| Sellers in our registry that list Monero | None, as of October 2026 |
| New coins | Any addition will be dated in the changelog |
Why can't I pay with Lightning?
Because our payment page works with on-chain transfers only. For Bitcoin, it shows a Bitcoin address and the exact BTC amount, locked for 30 minutes. A Lightning payment needs an invoice, and we don't issue one, so a Lightning wallet has nothing to pay.
What works instead: an on-chain Bitcoin transaction to the address shown. It is credited in US dollars after 2 confirmations. Pay for a hotel with Bitcoin.
Why can't I pay with Monero?
Because Monero is not one of our coins. We accept BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC, and only on the networks named on pay with crypto. A coin or a network that is not listed cannot be credited, and funds sent there may be lost.
If we ever add a coin, it will appear on the payment page and in the changelog with its date. Until then, assume it is not accepted.
What can I use instead?
One of the six accepted coins, on its own network:
- You hold BTC on Lightning: send it on-chain from your wallet or exchange, then pay with BTC on the Bitcoin network (2 confirmations).
- You prefer another on-chain coin: Litecoin (6 confirmations) or Solana (1 confirmation).
- You want a stable amount: USDT on Tron (TRC-20) or Ethereum (ERC-20), or USDC on Ethereum, keep a value close to the US dollar.
If you hold XMR, you can convert it to an accepted coin on an exchange of your choice. Follow the rules of the country where you live. We do not recommend any exchange.
Is booking with Bitcoin or USDT private enough?
The checkout is private: no ID upload and no selfie. We ask for an email address only for the voucher, changes and cancellation. But Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, Tron and Solana are public blockchains: anyone can see a transfer and its addresses. And the hotel always receives the lead guest's name and checks ID at check-in, as local law requires.
So whatever the coin, a hotel stay is never hidden from the hotel. What we keep, and what we never ask, is in the privacy policy.
Which crypto travel sites accept Lightning or Monero?
From the 21 sellers in our crypto travel seller registry, as of October 2026, per each seller's own pages:
| Seller | What it sells | Lightning | Monero (XMR) |
|---|---|---|---|
| StaySats | Hotels | ✗ | ✗ |
| Travala | Hotels, flights | Yes: BTC over Lightning among 129 payment options | Not listed |
| Bitrefill | Gift cards, not bookings | Yes | Not listed |
| trip1 | Hotels | Yes: BTC on-chain or over Lightning, per its help center | Not listed |
| IMPT | Hotels, hotel gift cards | Yes: BTC via Lightning, per its hotel guides | Not listed |
| Every other seller in the registry | Hotels, flights or gift cards | Not listed | Not listed |
We sell hotel bookings paid in crypto. Our offer is included and marked. "Not listed" means the coin does not appear in the payment details we found, checked October 12 or 13, 2026 (date of each registry row). A gift card is not a booking: see hotel gift cards or a crypto hotel booking site?.
Monero and Lightning: FAQ
Will StaySats add Lightning later?
We have announced no date. Today the payment page issues on-chain addresses only. If Lightning or any other method is added, it will appear on pay with crypto and be dated in the changelog.
What happens if I pay a StaySats Bitcoin address from a Lightning wallet?
It does not work over Lightning: a Lightning payment cannot reach an on-chain address. Some wallets can also send on-chain transactions; use that option, with the exact amount, on the Bitcoin network. If you are unsure, write to [email protected] before you send.
Is Litecoin a good replacement for Lightning?
It is an on-chain coin with its own network, accepted after 6 confirmations. Like Bitcoin, its fee depends on transaction size and demand, not on the amount. The hotel price is the same in every coin. Pay with Litecoin.
Can I get a refund in Monero or over Lightning?
No. Withdrawable amounts are paid in USDT on Tron (TRC-20) or Ethereum (ERC-20), or USDC on Ethereum (ERC-20), to an address you give. You can also keep them as balance credit.
Which crypto travel site accepts Monero?
None of the 21 sellers in our registry lists Monero among its coins, as of October 2026. Each seller's coins and networks are in the crypto travel seller registry, with the date of our check.
Does paying in crypto mean the hotel won't know who I am?
No. The hotel registers the lead guest by name and checks ID at check-in, as local law requires. Crypto changes how you pay us, not what the hotel needs from its guests.
