What is in each dataset?

Hotel & Booking-Site Crypto Acceptance Index. One row per booking site, hotel group or hotel. Columns: code, name, kind, country, crypto_direct (active, reported, unverified, stopped, none or unknown), processor, coins, networks, conditions, since, until, checked, evidence, source_title, source_url and workaround.

Crypto-Friendly Destinations. One row per destination. Columns: city, country, btcmap_places_25km, btcmap_verified_since_2025, btcmap_hotels, btcmap_date, local_crypto_payment_rule (banned, restricted, to-verify or none-found), local_rule_text, local_rule_source and check_in_rule, plus a column that says whether we sell hotels there.

Crypto Travel Seller Registry. One row per site that sells travel for crypto. Columns: seller, domain, company, jurisdiction, sells, status, coins_networks, refund_of_crypto_payment, fees, id_checks, blocked, checked and sources.

Hotel Check-in Without a Credit Card. One row per hotel group, read on its own help page or terms. It shows the deposit at check-in, debit cards, a cash deposit, any published amount, the release time of a hold and the source.

Hotel Taxes by City. One row per city of our city guides. Columns: city, country, tax, amount_or_rate, how_it_is_charged, in_the_price_or_paid_apart, source and checked. The source column gives the official page, or says when a figure comes from a search extract.

How do I cite StaySats data?

Name StaySats, the dataset, the date of our check, the license and the link. Use these lines as they are:

  • Source: StaySats, Hotel & Booking-Site Crypto Acceptance Index (checked October 13, 2026), CC BY 4.0, https://staysats.com/hotel-crypto-acceptance-index/.
  • Source: StaySats, Crypto Travel Seller Registry (checked October 13, 2026), CC BY 4.0, https://staysats.com/crypto-travel-seller-registry/.
  • Source: StaySats, Crypto-Friendly Destinations (checked October 12, 2026), CC BY 4.0, https://staysats.com/crypto-friendly-destinations/.
  • Source: StaySats, Hotel Check-in Without a Credit Card (checked October 13, 2026), CC BY 4.0, https://staysats.com/check-in-without-credit-card/.
  • Source: StaySats, Hotel Taxes by City (checked October 13, 2026), CC BY 4.0, https://staysats.com/hotel-taxes-by-city/.

A link is appreciated; any rel attribute is fine. For one row, cite the row's own checked date and, if you can, its original source in source_url (source in the hotel taxes file). If you change the data, say so.

How is the data collected, and what are its limits?

By hand, from primary sources where we can. These are a company's own terms, help or payment pages, official registers and laws, and BTC Map for the places its contributors list. When only press coverage exists, the row says so in the evidence field.

Limits:

  • A status is a snapshot. A hotel group can stop or start accepting crypto between two checks. The checked date tells you how old a row is.
  • BTC Map counts reflect what its contributors have listed within 25 km of a city centre, not every place that accepts crypto.
  • Local rules are summaries with a source, not legal advice. Rows marked to-verify have not been checked yet.
  • Seller facts come from each seller's own pages; "not found" means we did not find the fact, not that it is false.
  • Tax rates change by decision, sometimes at short notice. Check the row's date before you quote a rate.

Is StaySats neutral?

No. We sell hotel bookings paid in crypto. Our offer is included and marked. We describe every seller, us included, with the same fields and the same kind of source. We correct errors when someone shows us a better source. Write to [email protected] with the row and the source.

What will be added later?

Measured data, once it exists. Price statistics per city, such as the median price of a night, will come only after our own searches have measured them. Each will carry its month and date. A median time to hotel confirmation will come only once real bookings have been measured. Each addition will be dated in the changelog.

Can I use StaySats data in an article or an app?

Yes, under CC BY 4.0. You can copy, adapt and publish it, also for commercial use. Credit StaySats with a link and the date of the data. If you change the data, say so.

Is there an API?

Not as a separate service. The JSON and CSV files have stable URLs under /data/ and are rebuilt with the site, so you can fetch them directly. No key and no account are needed.

How fresh is the acceptance index?

Every row has its own checked date. The last check was October 13, 2026. We check the index every month, and sooner after a public announcement by a hotel group or a booking site.

Why are there no hotel prices in your data?

Because we have not measured them yet. We publish a price statistic only when our own searches have produced it, with its date. Until then, prices are live in the search and not in the open data.

Is StaySats itself in the seller registry?

Yes. It is on the registry page, marked as us, with the same fields as every other seller. They are company, country, coins and networks, refund of a crypto payment, fees and ID checks.

I found an error. How do I report it?

Write to [email protected] with the dataset, the row and a source, ideally the company's own page. We check it and, if the source confirms it, correct the row with a new date.
