Quick answer
Does Choice Hotels accept crypto, debit cards or cash?
Not crypto, as of October 12, 2026. Choice's FAQ asks for a credit card to guarantee the room and again at check-in, next to a government ID in the same name. A debit card appears only in its late-arrival rule. Cash is not mentioned. StaySats can prepay a Choice-brand room in crypto, but the desk may still want a card.

What does Choice's FAQ say about paying for a room?
Your credit card guarantees the room. Choice says the hotel must then hold it until 7 a.m. on the day after your arrival date, whatever time you arrive. The card is protected under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard.
The card is not charged before you arrive, unless the hotel has a prepayment or deposit requirement. In that case, a warning appears during the confirmation step. If you would rather not type your card online, Choice lets you book through its reservations center by phone. On October 12, 2026, the FAQ named no cryptocurrency.
What do you need at check-in at a Comfort Inn or Quality Inn?
Two things in one name. Choice's FAQ says you present a government-issued ID and a credit card at check-in. The name on the ID and on the card must match the name on the reservation.
That makes a debit-only or cash-only check-in hard to plan. Debit cards appear once in the FAQ: if your credit or debit card has no funds for the room, the booking may be cancelled. Cash is not mentioned at all, so ask the hotel in writing. Paying ahead with StaySats does not remove the hotel's incidental deposit at check-in.
When does Choice charge an Advance Purchase Rate?
Within 24 to 48 hours of booking. Choice's Advance Purchase Rate starts at 15% off its Best Available Rate. You must book on ChoiceHotels.com with a Choice Privileges number, 3, 14, 21 or 30 days ahead, depending on the hotel.
The rate cannot be cancelled, changed or refunded. Other rates follow a cancellation deadline set by each property, shown on the confirmation page before you book. If your plans may move, a flexible rate keeps your card uncharged until you arrive.
How old must you be to check in at a Choice hotel?
Usually 19, sometimes 21. Choice says most hotels require a lone guest to be at least 19 to book. Some hotels require 21.
When two or more guests share a room, at least one must be 21 or older if another guest is 18 or under. Call the hotel with any age question. Abroad, the law of the country adds its own ID rules: see hotel ID rules by country.
Did Choice Hotels ever offer bitcoin?
Only as a way to spend loyalty points, never as a way to pay a room. On September 28, 2021, Choice and Bakkt announced a link reported by PYMNTS. Choice Privileges members could convert points to cash in the Bakkt app and use it to buy bitcoin.
Bakkt shut its consumer app on March 16, 2023, per The Block, so this route is gone. Choice's own FAQ shows no crypto method today. Our acceptance index keeps the dated status.
Are Radisson hotels part of Choice Hotels?
Some are listed as its brands. Choice's FAQ names Radisson, Radisson Blu, Radisson RED, Country Inn & Suites and Park Plaza among its brands. Radisson Hotel Group also runs its own website, with its own FAQ and a credit-card-only rule for the check-in hold.
So check which group sells your stay before you rely on a rule. Our Radisson page covers the Radisson Hotel Group FAQ.
