A few may. BTC Map lists 53 places within 25 km of central Lisbon, 34 of them verified since 2025 (October 12, 2026). Hotels or other lodgings among them: 3.

A listing is not proof that a place accepts crypto today: volunteers add listings, and they can be out of date. Confirm with the hotel before you rely on paying in crypto there. With StaySats, any hotel in the search works: you pay us from your balance, and we pay the hotel in euros.

Where to stay in Lisbon?

Lisbon is built on hills, so check the walk from the nearest metro station, not only the distance.

  • Baixa and Chiado: the flat grid rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake, down to Praça do Comércio; metro Blue and Green lines at Baixa-Chiado.
  • Alfama: the oldest quarter, with steep lanes below São Jorge Castle and tram 28.
  • Bairro Alto and Príncipe Real: restaurants and nightlife on the hill west of Chiado.
  • Avenida da Liberdade: a wide avenue with many large hotels, between Restauradores and Marquês de Pombal.
  • Parque das Nações: the modern riverside district of the 1998 World Expo, closest to the airport, with Oriente station.
  • Belém: monuments and museums west along the Tagus, further from the centre.

What is added to the bill in Lisbon?

Lisbon's municipal tourist tax is €4 per guest per night, for guests aged 13 and over. It is charged for at most 7 consecutive nights, so never more than €28 per guest per stay. The rate doubled from €2 on September 1, 2024. The hotel collects it and passes it to the city.

Stays for medical treatment are exempt, as are students and scholarship holders in the first 60 days of each academic year. On StaySats, when the hotel collects the tax at the desk, it is confirmed with your booking. The rest of the price is paid from your balance, once we confirm the final total with the hotel.

Will the hotel ask for my passport or a deposit?

Yes, if you are not Portuguese. Portuguese law requires hotels to report every foreign guest to the immigration authorities within three working days. They use the SIBA system (Law 23/2007 and Portaria 415/2008). The front desk records your name, date of birth, nationality and the number of your passport or ID card.

A deposit for extras is each hotel's policy, by card or in cash. StaySats asks only for the lead guest's name and an email address; no ID upload at checkout. See hotel ID rules by country.

No local ban found in our sources (checked October 12, 2026). Booking with StaySats does not depend on a hotel accepting crypto: you pay us in crypto, and we pay the hotel in euros.

Paying in crypto may be a taxable event in your country. Check local rules. If you live in Portugal, check the Portuguese rules on crypto gains before you spend coins held for a short time.

How do you get from Lisbon airport to the centre?

Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) is about 8 km from Praça do Comércio in a straight line. The metro Red line starts at Aeroporto station; change at Alameda or São Sebastião for the centre.

Taxis and ride-hailing cars also serve the airport. For Parque das Nações, the Red line reaches Oriente in a few stops.
