Do Miami hotels accept bitcoin at the desk?
Many merchants are listed; hotels, hardly. BTC Map lists 142 places within 25 km of downtown Miami (October 12, 2026), and 119 of them were verified in 2025 or later. Only San Salvador, Johannesburg, Los Angeles, Cape Town, Lugano, Tbilisi, Funchal and San Francisco list more among our 100 destinations. Yet BTC Map lists 0 hotels in that circle.
With StaySats, the hotel does not need to accept bitcoin. You pay us in crypto, and we pay the hotel in US dollars. Which hotel groups accept crypto directly is tracked, with dates and sources, in our acceptance index.
Is paying in crypto legal in the United States?
No local ban found in our sources (checked October 12, 2026). So each Miami hotel decides whether to take crypto at the desk, and BTC Map lists few that do.
Paying in crypto may be a taxable event in your country. Check local rules. This is information, not legal advice.
What taxes do Miami hotels charge?
Three layers apply on stays of six months or less:
- Florida sales tax: 6% state sales tax, plus any county discretionary surtax, on hotel stays of six months or less.
- Miami-Dade tourist taxes: 6% in local taxes in 2026, made of tourist development, professional sports facility and convention development taxes, per Florida's official rate table.
- Beach towns: Miami Beach, Bal Harbour and Surfside levy a municipal resort tax instead of the county's tourist development tax. Miami Beach's resort tax is 4% of room rent.
On StaySats, you see the price found live for your dates, in US dollars, for the whole stay. Taxes and fees are included when the hotel publishes them; the final total is confirmed with the hotel before you are charged. Some hotels also charge a mandatory daily resort fee. We confirm the final total with the hotel, fees included, before you are charged. Any amount the hotel collects at the desk is confirmed with your booking.
How do I get from Miami International Airport to my hotel?
For downtown, take the train. The free MIA Mover runs from the airport's third level, between the Dolphin and Flamingo garages, to the Miami Intermodal Center. There, the Metrorail Orange Line serves downtown stations including Government Center, Historic Overtown/Lyric Theatre, Culmer and Civic Center. On October 12, 2026, the airport's site listed trains every 30 minutes on weekdays and every 15 minutes at weekends.
You need an EASY Card to ride; machines are at the Intermodal Center. Metrorail does not reach Miami Beach, so for South Beach take a taxi, a ride-hailing car or a bus. The airport is about 10 km in a straight line from downtown.
Which Miami district should I stay in?
Beach or city, first:
- South Beach (Miami Beach): Ocean Drive, Art Deco hotels and the Miami Beach Convention Center.
- Mid-Beach: larger resort hotels along Collins Avenue, quieter than South Beach.
- Downtown Miami: offices, the Kaseya Center arena and Metrorail stations.
- Brickell: the financial district south of the Miami River, linked to downtown by the free Metromover.
- Wynwood and Edgewater: street art, galleries and new hotels north of downtown.
- Coconut Grove and Coral Gables: leafy residential areas south-west of Brickell.
- Little Havana: Calle Ocho and Cuban restaurants, west of downtown.
Where should I stay for Consensus Miami 2027?
In South Beach or Mid-Beach. Consensus Miami runs from May 4 to 6, 2027 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, according to its official site. Hotels in South Beach are within walking distance, and Mid-Beach is a short ride north. Downtown Miami and Brickell are across the causeways, so allow time for traffic.
Remember the beach-town tax: Miami Beach adds its 4% resort tax on room rent. Book early, and treat the rate as non-refundable until the hotel confirms its cancellation rules with your booking. All upcoming events are on crypto conference hotels.
Will a Miami hotel ask for ID or a card?
Yes, usually both. Expect to show a government photo ID at check-in, which for a foreign visitor means your passport. Most hotels also ask for a card pre-authorisation or a cash deposit for extras, and each hotel sets its own minimum check-in age.
We ask only for the lead guest's name and an email address; there is no ID upload and no selfie at our checkout. If you have no credit card, ask the hotel before arrival whether it accepts a cash deposit. Rules by hotel group are on check-in without a credit card.

If the total changes before the hotel confirms, you see the new total and choose: accept it, or have the amount released. Nothing extra is ever taken without your agreement.
